U Division

There are three Sub Divisions within Ayrshire Division:

North Ayrshire - This sub division serves the main towns of Irvine, Kilwinning, Kilbirnie, Saltcoats, Stevenston, Ardrossan, Largs and surrounding villages. It also provides policing services for the island communities of Arran and Cumbrae.

Key locations include - Pharmaceutical companies Roche Products in Dalry and SmithKline Beecham in Irvine, along with the Scottish Nuclear Power Station, the ICI Nobel Explosives Factory and the Royal Naval Armament Depot.

East Ayrshire - As well as the main towns of Kilmarnock and Cumnock, this sub division also includes the surrounding villages of Stewarton, Newmilns, Galston, Mauchline, Muirkirk, New Cumnock, Dalmellington, Drongan and Dalrymple.

Key locations include - Rugby Park Stadium, home to Kilmarnock Football Club, Crosshouse Hospital, the major accident and emergency hospital for both East and North Ayrshire and Bowhouse Prison near Hurlford. There are large open cast mining sites within Cumnock and the Doon Valley.

South Ayrshire - This sub division covers the towns of Prestwick, Troon and Ayr and surrounding villages.

Key locations include - Prestwick International Airport; the Royal Naval Air Station of HMS Gannet; Ayr Racecourse; two 'Open Championship' status golf courses at Turnberry and Royal Troon, and the Seacat Ferry Terminal.
