Divisional snapshot

Glasgow North East and East Dunbartonshire covers 100 square miles and a population of just over 330,000.  It encompasses widely contrasting communities, from densely populated areas such as Milton and Easterhouse to the semi-rural villages of Torrance and Twechar. 

The division combines areas of social deprivation and relative affluence and a broad range of ethnic backgrounds.  These diverse communities present a great variety of policing issues.

There are five sub divisions in Glasgow North East and East Dunbartonshire:

  • Baird Street – ('BC' sub division) includes Springburn, Sighthill, Barmulloch, Balornock, Royston, Blackhill, Cowlairs, Balgrayhill, Germiston, Robroyston and Millerston
  • East Dunbartonshire – ('BF' sub division) includes Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Lenzie, Milngavie, Milton of Campsie, Lennoxtown, Torrance, Twechar and some smaller semi-rural towns and villages
  • London Road – ('BA' sub division) includes Calton, Bridgeton, Dalmarnock, Barrowfield, Camlachie, Dennistoun, Riddrie, Cranhill, Carntyne and Hagill
  • Maryhill and Saracen – ('BE' sub division) includes Maryhill, Kelvinside, Summerston, Cadder, Possilpark, Milton, Lambhill, Ruchill, Parkhouse, East Keppoch, Hamiltonhill, Port Dundas, Woodside and Firhill
  • Shettleston, Easterhouse and Baillieston – ('BD' sub division) includes Parkhead, Tollcross, Mount Vernon, Carmyle, Barlanark, Greenfield, Swinton, Wellhouse, Easthall, Easterhouse, Provanhall, Craigend, Garthamlock, Ruchazie, Garrowhill and Baillieston

Chief Superintendent Wayne Mawson is divisional commander and is responsible for local policing strategy.  He is based at divisional headquarters in London Road.

Our community policing teams

There are 16 community policing teams in Glasgow North East and East Dunbartonshire, each covering one or more multi-member council wards.  The teams are co-ordinated by a central communities unit.

We want you to know who’s on your team and how to contact us.  Our officers are there to listen to you, to respond to your concerns, and to work with the community and partner agencies on long-term solutions to local problems.
