Change to Recruitment Form
Strathclyde Police is committed to the maintenance of exceptionally high levels of honesty and integrity and also the prevention and detection of dishonest, unethical and unprofessional behaviour. These standards apply unequivocally to all applicants for Strathclyde Police and also, to all serving police officers and members of police staff.
If an applicant to the Strathclyde Police regular or special constabulary has any concerns in relation to the character of friends, associations or relationships they have with others then these should be highlighted in order that they can be appropriately assessed by the Force's Vetting Department.
Accordingly, from Monday 7 September 2009, Strathclyde Police will require all applicants for the regular and special constabularies to complete a formal form outlining details mentioned above and to forward same along with their application form to the Recruiting Department. Applicants who withhold such information will be rejected from the recruiting process.
Candidates who do not declare the details of any friends or associates and opt to select - NO – are still required to sign and date the document and to submit same to the Recruiting Department along with their application form.
Candidates invited for interview for a position as a member of police staff will also be required to complete and submit a form.
Further information can be obtained by contacting the Recruiting Department.
Change in Recruiting Process - Police Officers
Following a review of the recruiting process for police officers, it has been agreed with immediate effect that the Force will no longer carry out background home interviews.
As a result of this, candidates should be aware that even more emphasis will now be put on the initial and final interviews. It is therefore vitally important that all candidates are well prepared for these interviews where their commitment and other key skills will be thoroughly tested to determine their desire and suitability to become a good and effective police officer.
Should you require any further information then please contact the recruiting department.
Special Constables - Change to recruitment process
Special constables have a huge contribution to make towards high visibility policing and public reassurance. That's why we're currently recruiting many more specials to work within the community.
As of 1 April 2008, the recruitment process for special constables has changed. There will no longer be a home visit. A panel interview will now take place by two members of the recruitment team at Force Training and Recruitment Centre or at a suitable police premises.
To find out more about becoming a special, call our Recruiting Department on 01355 566352 or have a look at our special constable section. You can also download an application form from this site.
