(a) All officers move to this salary point on completion of two years' service as a constable.
(b) Officers who have been on this point for a year will have access to the competence related threshold payment.

Sergeant's Salary

£35, 610 on appointment, to £40, 020 at 4 years service in the rank.

Inspector's Salary

£45, 624 on appointment, to £49, 488 at 3 years service in the rank.

Chief Inspector's Salary

£50, 502 on appointment to £52, 578 at 3 years service in the rank.

Contributory Pension Scheme


An attractive contributory pension scheme is in operation. A maximum pension will be achieved after 35 years in service. If you presently have a pension it may be possible to transfer it into the police scheme.

Shift work


Most operational officers work shifts. A new shift pattern is presently being adopted by the Force. An example shift pattern is included in pdf format below.

Some geographical areas work a different shift pattern designed to meet local needs.
