Reward Scheme
Working as a special constable is purely voluntary. Although there's no salary, reasonable out of pocket expenses are paid. You can also apply for the Recognition Award Scheme which offers a one off payment of up to £1500 a year. Your uniform is provided free but remains the property of the chief constable.
But your own personal gain is dependent on your outlook. Becoming a special constable brings the greatest reward of all - the chance to make a personal and positive contribution towards a safer community.
