The division extends approximately 2,950 square miles from urban Clydebank to the island communities of Mull and Islay and has a population of approximately 182,000. The area attracts countless hill walkers and mountaineers and the division works closely with the Force Mountain Rescue Team.
There are two sub divisions in Argyll, Bute and West Dunbartonshire :
Chief Superintendent Russell Dunn is divisional commander and is responsible for local policing strategy. He is based at divisional headquarters in Dumbarton.
There are 17 community policing teams in Argyll, Bute and West Dunbartonshire, each covering one or more multi-member council wards. The teams are co-ordinated by a central communities unit.
