This division provides policing services to the communities that live, work and invest in the south side of Glasgow and East Renfrewshire. It has a population of 306,000 across 111 square miles.
The area is home to the National Football Stadium at Hampden and Ibrox Park, home of Glasgow Rangers Football Club, resulting in constant and extensive demand for policing services related to football and other events at both stadia.
There are five sub divisions in Glasgow South and East Renfrewshire:
Chief Superintendent Andrew Bates is divisional commander and is responsible for local policing strategy. He is based at divisional headquarters in Helen Street, Govan.
There are 14 community policing teams in Glasgow South and East Renfrewshire, each covering one or more multi-member council wards. The teams are co-ordinated by a central communities unit.
