As divisional commander for South Lanarkshire I am committed to promoting the delivery of a first class policing service that challenges crime and antisocial behaviour.
I am keen to enhance the level of community interaction within the division and look to the people of South Lanarkshire to contribute to the manner in which my officers and members of police staff focus their attention.
The communities of South Lanarkshire are the focus of everything we do within the division and through regular community meetings we are able to produce community policing plans that reflect local concerns.
I am extremely keen on encouraging the people of South Lanarkshire to fully engage with their local police officers. Community intelligence is a valuable tool in the fight against crime and also allows us to enhance the quality of life within the divisional area.
Public consultation events have been running throughout South Lanarkshire, giving you the opportunity to tell your officers where the problems exist, so that we can target resources effectively. I would encourage all local residents to come along to any suitable dates and to get to know your local officers, whose contact details can be found on this website.
Positive action plans, which are supported by our partners, are making a real difference. We are very fortunate in South Lanarkshire that our partner agencies possess the same drive and commitment towards making our communities safer places to live, work and visit.
There is no doubt that through challenging each other we will continue to improve upon what we have already achieved and reduce the level of crime and antisocial behaviour in the area.
Our front line resources deliver a more visible, accessible and responsive policing service that takes into account the demands within our communities. The service provided to the public is more focused and through regular analysis of information and intelligence we are able to prioritise the manner in which we police our communities and match resources to demand more effectively.
I am pleased to report that we are performing well in tackling force and local priorities. Crime levels continue to fall and we will continue to build on the achievements of previous years. We remain focused on tackling our top priorities, which are:
Crime in South Lanarkshire is at its lowest in ten years, but we will not be complacent. There is much work still to be done.
That said, I am confident that with the support of the local communities of South Lanarkshire and our partners, we will continue to meet the needs and expectations of everyone. Working together we can achieve so much more.
